The CREIGHTON family emigrated to Illinois from Montreal in 1852. The father, Charles, was born in Montreal, the mother, Elizabeth, in Illinois, although both her parents were born in Scotland. This is a family of Scottish descent, not of Irish, even though the family spells it in the Irish way, which has proved to be quite the challenge. The Creightons settled in the Cook County, Illinois area, primarily Hyde Park and Chicago. I've listed the descendancy as I know it below....

Charles CREIGHTON, Sr was "murdered by persons unknown while building a railroad in 1879" - no death certificate/body/grave that we know of
His wife, Elizabeth DEWAR CREIGHTON was 3 months pregnant with son, Frank Bryant Creighton, at the time
Charles CREIGHTON JR was present at a family portrait on 9/20/1918, but sometime afterward was run over by a train - no family known
Frank Bryant CREIGHTON was a senior Boy Scout Executive in Wichita Falls, TX, where his offspring also lived: more info available
Mabel L CREIGHTON, with husband George MACATEE, owned the Macatee Hotel in Houston, TX - Mabel was stepmother to George Jr, and several other descendants, no natural children that we know of
Charles Sr apparently had a brother, John Boston CREIGHTON, who married Elizabeth DEWAR'S younger sister, Apolina DEWAR of Morris, IL, and lived in Hyde Park. He was a police lieutenant in Hyde Park, and they had three sons, John B Jr, William F., John D and one daughter, Dorothy. John Jr is no longer alive by the 1900 Federal Census.
